Adelaide returned his smile, a small one from her, and then took his arm. The guests all sat back down and watched as the ceremony commenced. Adelaide swallowed and listened to the boring, droning voice of the minister as he spoke the traditional words, tensing somewhat as the ceremony went on.

Nazeal thought maybe his mind faded out for a little, because suddenly the minister was nearing the end of his speech. He darted a glance at Adelaide, but he was unable to see much of her face under her veil. "In the name of the Lord Ruler, do you, Nazeal Venture, take Adelaide Hasting to be your wedded wife?" the man said
(Lol, I'm making this shit up as I go. I'm pretty sure no one actually got married in the books)

(Probably not xD This works though.)
Adelaide tried occasionally to listen to the words of the minister but he was so... slow... She faded out again but focused when she heard the words that signified the almost closing of the ceremony. She looked up at Nazeal with a somewhat apprehensive look on her face. This was it. Would he accept her, once and for all?

Nazeal took a deep breath. "I do," he said firmly. The man repeated the question to Adelaide, switching the names of course. Once she spoke... it would be done. There would be no going back.

The veil was rather thick, so nobody but the minister and Nazeal could possibly see the terrified expression twisting her face. She trembled and looked up at Nazeal. She then stood up somewhat straighter and set her mouth determinedly. "I do," she said firmly.

The minister nodded. "By the power provided to me by the Lord Ruler himself, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
When Nazeal turned to her and lifted his arms to pull back her veil, his hands were shaking. Once her face was exposed, her met her eyes. Whatever determination showed on her face, he could see the terror in her eyes, and it made his stomach clench. Do you even want to marry me? The words still echoed in his head. He still didn't have an answer.
He gently put his fingers under her chin and lifter he face to his, brushing his lips against hers.

She let out a small breath, feeling as though she could hardly breathe. She looked up at him and blinked, closing her eyes when he kissed her gently. That was a first for her- being kissed. It was a new, strange sensation and she wasn't entirely sure she liked it. But she allowed him to pull away when he wanted to, meanwhile meeting his lips with hers.

Nazeal had planned to pull away, just a light kiss to end the ceremony. When his lips met hers, though, he somewhat forgot they were surrounded by other people. His hand came up to cup her cheek, his other slipping behind her back. Maybe it was a way to convince himself that he wanted this, or maybe not, but right then he kissed her like he'd done it a hundred times.

The crowd went wild with applause, but Adelaide began to feel a little uncomfortable, so she ended the kiss by lightly pulling away. Only he could have noticed it, and she turned and gave as best a smile as she could to the crowd.

The contact broken, Nazeal felt a little stunned as he turned to face the crowd. He hadn't meant to do that. He wondered if he'd upset her, or worse frightened her. He wanted to look at her, to apologize, but that would have to wait until they were alone. Right then, they had to work their way out of the chapel, which wouldn't be easy with all the people who wanted to talk to them.

As they began to make their way outside, Adelaide began to fend off questions with surprising ease, telling guests that she was happy they were able to attend, and things like that to appease them. She held her sleeves out of the way as she was in the crowd- she didn't want anybody to tread on them. She hasn't exactly been frightened by the kiss, or upset- she had expected to be kissed and she had resigned herself to this fact. It was just... new and different

When they finally emerged from the chapel, a servant greeted them and gestured for them to follow. Now than Nazeal was married, he'd be given new chambers in the keep, larger ones to accommodate him and his new wife.

Adelaide allowed him to take the lead and fell silent, just focusing on walking. It hadn't really hit her that she was married yet... all those years of waiting and fretting... over. Now that she didn't have that to worry about, she wasn't sure what to do with herself.

When they reached the chambers, Nazeal led inside. The second the door shut and they were alone, he stepped forward. "Adelaide, I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking..."

Adelaide calmly held a hand up for him, signaling him to quiet down. "No, Nazeal. I do not blame you. You acted in the moment, and nobody can be blamed for that."
