They wound their way deeper through more tunnels, eventually emerging into an even larger cavern that was occupied by a few other kandra. They glanced up curiously when KarDek entered with the two humans.

Theon sucked in a fearful breath, his eyes widening somewhat. He had never expected to die so soon, and especially not here, with a skaa and Kandra his last sight.

KarDek took them to their prison pits, shoving them unceremoniously inside. The pits were designed to hold kandra, simply deep enough that they wouldn't be able to get out. Really the only way to hold a kandra. With Theon and Ryder in the same pit, her left to go speak with the second gens.

Theon paced back and forth, from one end of the pit to the other. He clenched his fists angrily and finally stopped pacing. "Well, this is a fine mess."

Ryder, now sitting on the floor with one leg out and an arm on his other knee. "Indeed," he said. "What do you suggest?"

Theon pressed his lips together. "They are very powerful creatures," he said, "and it really isn't worth fighting even one, let alone five. So I guess we should just wait and see what happens. If they try to kill us, we should die fighting."

"They don't look very dangerous," Ryder muttered. Theon was right, though, they were outnumbered. Not to mention the fact that they were currently in a pit. They'd have to wait.

"And we're both currently held prisoner by something that isn't human, something that looks like it would very much like to kill us," Ryder said. "The way I see it, right now we're equals." He glanced up and grimaced. He knew it probably wouldn't do him any good, but he wished he had some metal to burn.

Theon grit his teeth and continued pacing, his jaw working as he tried to think of something to do.
(I just realized that his name is the same as Theon Greyjoy. I didn't realize that xD)

Ryder leaned his head back and closed his eyes. He searched his memory, trying desperately to find any glimmer of a mention of these 'kandra.' "What are these things, anyway?" he asked.
