Adelaide quieted down when he looked at her and Theon snorted. "Then he just won't find me. I'll be a servant."

Nazeal sighed. "Fine. Theon, this is Adelaide." He gestured toward her and then went to stand at her side, wrapping an arm around her waist. They weren't perhaps a loving married couple, but Nazeal had certainly come to be fond of her in the time that had passed.

Theon gave a sweeping, dramatic bow to Adelaide who returned with a smile. "It is my ultimate pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lady Adelaide," he said. Adelaide looked up at Nazeal with a smile. "Thank you, Theon."

"Don't tell me you snuck in here just to meet my wife," Nazeal said. "I don't buy it."

"That was part of the reason!" he replied defensively. "But... did father tell you what happened to make me mad the other day?"

Nazeal hesitated. "Sort of. He didn't say much. I suppose I should hear your side of the story?" He glanced at Adelaide, not sure she should be here to hear this.

Adelaide pursed her lips somewhat and untangled herself from Nazeal's arms, walking off to explore the castle some. She had heard rumors and didn't particularly care to hear it.

Theon waited until she was gone before starting to talk. When he neared the end, he sighed. "And she accused me of rape- it was a lie!"

Nazeal leaned against the arm of a sitting chair and was silent for a few seconds. "I believe you," he said at last. "But why did she do it?"

Theon was glad to have someone on his side. "I just don't know."

Nazeal's face turned thoughtful. "You said it was that Elariel girl?" he asked. "it's not surprising that they'd believe her over you."

He nodded his head in agreement. "You're right. Not surprising at all. And of course father would jump to the most extreme conclusion.

[Cʀʏsᴛᴀʟ]

"He's always hated you," Nazeal murmured. "He'd take any excuse to hate you more. What I can't understand is what this woman could have to gain from it all. Why lure you into bed, only to make herself a victim?"

Theon sighed quietly. "I think she wanted to... you know, but when we caught she wanted to save her face," he growled quietly, his eyes narrowed and his fists clenched. "Maybe she hated me for some reason."

[Cʀʏsᴛᴀʟ]

Nazeal gave him a faint smile. "Dear brother, you're an entirely unlikable character, but I doubt a woman would bed you hoping to get caught. Perhaps she truly did want it, but panicked when you were discovered." He gave his head a small shake. "A cunning fox if there ever was one."

Theon stuck his tongue out at Theon. "So, how is married life?" he asked. "Is she a suitable wife?"
