Nazeal was silent for a moment, trying to find the best way to phrase his answer. Eventually, he said, "Because we're married. I don't feel that I should keep secrets from you." Maybe that made him a foolish man, but that was how he felt.

Adelaide nodded quietly and went back to her sewing.
(We should timeskip to a bandit raid on the ship or something, a few days into their journey.)

(Yeah. Kai and Artis could even attack posing as 'bandits' with an ulterior motives, if we want to do that)

Nazeal and Adelaide were back in the cabin at the time when he heard the men started to cry out. A moment later, the boat gave a sharp lurch, nearly throwing Nazeal off the bed. "What in the name of the Lord Ruler?" he said. With her hand on the wall, he made his way carefully to the door and cracked it up. Outside, a group of men were boarding the boat. He could only count four of them, but the boat's crew seemed to have their hands full. Allomancers, Nazeal thought. There was at least one Coinshot among them.

Adelaide stumbled and steadied herself against the wall. "What's going on?" she asked, gazing on in anxiety.
Kai, masked and clothed in a dark garb, boarded the ship, allowing his men to do the fighting while he as Artis looked around the ship. "There should be nobles afoot, or so my sources tell me."

"Allomancers?" Artis asked, not sounding concerned in the least. Their men were well trained, able to fight allomancers regardless of whether they possessed the ability as well.
Nazeal grabbed Adelaide's wrist as he shoved the door shut. "Stay here," he said. His face was hard as he stared at her intently. "Do you understand? Stay here until I return."

Kai looked at Artis with a shrug. "It shouldn't be a problem, if there are any." The fighting went around them as they fought.
Adelaide met his eyes with ferocity, but she backed down as soon as she saw how serious he was. "Nazeal... please be careful."

Nazeal grabbed a coin pouch from his unpacked luggage and then paused to meet her eyes. "I will," he said softly. Then he slipped through the door to join the battle. With the pouch tied to his belt, he sought out the nearest attacker. The entire crew was fighting, and three nearby were struggling to hold their own against a single man. A thug, Nazeal thought. He grabbed a handful of coins from his pouch. They wouldn't be very effective against the thug, but it could at least distract him. He flung the coins into the air and shot them at the man. Five coins embedded themselves in his skin--one in his shoulder, two in the back, and two on his thigh. The man didn't seem to notice the pain, but he did jerk in surprise and turn toward Nazeal. The young lord held his breath, realizing he'd just made the brilliant move of attracting a thug's attention.

Adelaide watched him as he went, catching a glimpse of the battle outside. Her eyes widened as she closed the door.
Kai looked around and then saw the well-clad noble. "Ah, there he is," he muttered, gesturing to him for Artis to see him.

Artis peered around Kai to get a glimpse of Nazeal. When he laid eyes on him, he snorted. "That boy? He can't be past 20 years." Although, the man seemed to be holding his own. As they watched, the young noble shot some more coins at the Thug, drawing his attention so the crew members could cut him down. It took a lot to take down a man burning pewter, but three men against the distracted Thug would do it. Artis grimaced. One of their own down. He should care more than he did.

"It appears he will be our only obstacle," Kai remarked, his eyes hardening. "Let's take care of him first- but I don't want him dead. He be much more useful taken alive."
Meanwhile, the crew members rallied around the noblemen and doubled their efforts of fighting.

It seemed that the presence of a Coinshot greatly strengthened the crew's confidence, even though Nazeal wasn't the most competent fighter. He shot coins out with as much accuracy as he could, mostly just making it possible for his allies to bring the men down. All seemed to be going well until someone grabbed him from behind. Nazeal cried out, but a hand clamped down over his mouth. Next thing he knew, he was dragged overboard and hit the water with a splash, his assailant still gripping him in a tight hold.

One of the crew members tried to grab Nazeal's attacker but missed and had to continue fighting.
Meanwhile, Adelaide heard the water splash and looke out the window. She thought she saw Nazeal, but she wasn't sure. She stepped back and continued pacing, biting her nails.

Nazeal fought against the weight wrapped around him. The person, whoever he was, spun Nazeal around in the water and kneed him in the stomach. Air whooshed out of his lungs, sending bubbles to the surface, but it rendered Nazeal motionless long enough for the person to drag him to the surface.
As soon as he felt the cool air on his face, Nazeal gasped, sucking in air to fill his burning lungs. Then he started fighting again, until the person grabbed his hair and hissed. "Stop struggling. I'm trying to help you."
