Now who was coming in to see him today? Nikolai hurried over to his desk, trying to find the paper which held his list of appointments. "Confound it. The one night I'm too tired to put things away, and everything flies to pieces!" He says with a huff, rummaging through all the different papers on his desk and in its drawers. Finally he throws his hands up, before placing them on his hips. He glared at the pile of papers. Look at them. Mocking him.
"Well, it's almost always some noble, so I suppose that's what I should suspect." He muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. It still managed to look slick though, even with his messing. He was dressed impeccably, as always, in black trousers and a white shirt with a black best over it. He stared at the desk for a few moments longer before her heard the bell to his shop ring. There was his mystery appointment now.
Nikolai sighed through his nose before putting on his mask and smiling. It looked so genuinely pleased, it might as well have been his true emotion. He hurried out of his office and into the main part of his store. "Ah! Welcome!"

Adelaide Venture was standing there, closing a blue parasol and smiling. "Hello, there. Nikolai Volkov, I presume?" She gave a small curtsy. "I am Adelaide Venture. I was told you are the best tailor around, and I need a dress... if you please."

Nikolai's smile widened and he clasped his hands together. "Of course! Lovely to have you Lady Adelaide! We'll get you a dress right away! Please come with me, and I'll take your measurements." He said, escorting her through the entrance area and into his fitting room. It was windowless, as expected, and Nikolai shut the door. He motioned to a small platform.
"If you'd please disrobe and stand there, I'll be with you in a moment!" He said, hurrying off to another door and exiting to give her some privacy. He entered his fabric room, and began looking for his measuring tape and clipboard. "Now where did I put those..."

Adelaide looked somewhat frightened at the prospect of disrobing in front of this strange man but, as she had expected this, she steeled herself and straightened. She quickly took off her clothes except for her underwear and stood waiting for a moment. "I-I'm ready," she said loud enough for him to hear.

Nikolai found all his things and went back over to the door. He heard the girl speak, and smiled softly. She sounded slightly terrified. The poor dear. However, business was business. Besides, she had nothing to fear. "Coming in then!" He announced, opening the door and heading inside. He flashed her a smile once he shut the door.
"There! That wasn't so bad! Fear not, Lady Adelaide!" He said, putting down his charcoal stick, board, and paper as he approached her. "I am a professional! You are in most excellent hands!" He assured her as he took the measuring tape in one hand. "Now then, put your hands down at your sides. I need to get your shoulders first, and I'll work my way down."

Adelaide nodded, giving a smile. She held her arms at her side and waited while he measured her. "So, how long have you been in this business?"

Nikolai slid the tape around her shoulders, putting a thumb at the mark it landed on once he pulled it loosely right around her. "Oh, many years now." He said, leaning down to write the tick mark down on a piece of paper. "Tailoring's basically all I've known. Once I figured out I had a talent for using a needle and thread to stitch and make clothes without turning my fingers into holed cheese, I knew I was going to stick with it." He stood back up and held his arms out, creating a T shape with his body.
"Now then! Do this. I'm going to measure your chest. And don't worry. Professional, remember?" He repeated

Adelaide listened to him, then copied him when he told her to stand a certain way. She gave a small smile and nodded. "Okay," she said softly. "Well, you certainly must have a talent. Everyone who is anyone has a Volkov dress."

Nikolai raised an eyebrow and smirked, pleased. "Of course, Lady Adelaide!" He said as he looped the tape around her chest, once again pulling it loosely tight around her. "My life's work is in my clothing!" He exclaimed, putting one hand to his own chest before leaning back down and writing down the number his thumb had stopped at. "If I did not put my heart and soul into my style and work, I wouldn't be able to be as successful as I am!" He stood back up.
"Now, keep your arms up, but you can relax them a little. I need to get your waistline and hips." He said

"Of course, of course," she replied with a smile. She kept her arms up and continued looking forward, thinking about what she would want the dress to look like.

Nikolai took her other measurements quickly enough. "You have a very tiny waist, Lady Adelaide! I commend you on your shape!" He said with a chuckle, reading over the numbers. "Now then, do you have an idea for a dress, or would you rather I take control?" He asked her, glancing over. He actually got a lot of customers who let him make the dress himself without any prior recommendation. His style was well respected. Mostly because it was good

"Thank you, Nikolai," she replied with a smile. "I'm not entirely sure what I would like, but I've been told I look good in sapphire blue, like this ring." She held up her hand to show him the lioness-shaped ring her friend Leonie had given her.

Awwwww I'm touched Leonie would be pleased)) Nikolai glanced at her ring, and then did a double take. "Huh! Very fancy ring you've got there. Most impressive!" He complimented before looking from the ring to Adeliade to the ring again. "Hmmmmm...." He hummed, scratching his chin as he put his board down and circled Adelaide. "Mmmm... Yes, whoever said that was right. Blues would definitely suit you." He mused. "Magenta would too, or some mixture of purple and blue. Silver too. Maybe as embroidery..." He was mostly talking to himself now, his keen eyes narrowed in thought. "Perhaps I could add something to the dress, make it shimmer... Hrmmm.... Hold on one moment, Lady Adelaide. I have an idea." He said, retreating from the room and back to his fabric room

Adelaide watched him work, charmed by his personality. "An idea. I'm excited," she said with a laugh. (Aw )

Ok, only one thread in, and I love Nikolai's personality myself. XD he's fun to rp as))
Nikolai rummaged through his fabrics. Now where was that color? It was silk, right? Nikolai looked through the organized clothes before finally finding what he wanted. He laughed in victory before heading back into the room with Adelaide. "I've found it, Lady Adelaids!" He announced triumphantly, heading over to her with a scrap of clothe. It was a dark, dark blue, like the midnight sky. It glittered slightly in the light of his shop. It wasn't too flashy, but just enough to draw attention to it. It was almost like stars.
Nikolai held it up against Adelaide, matching the cloth with her. He looked from her face to the cloth and grinned. "I think we have something, Lady Adelaide!" He murmured almost conspiratorially
