"There's an idea," Adelaide agreed with Madame Raine. "Perhaps. Okay, mount up!" Adelaide had a servant help her into the saddle- he was much too tall to be mounted from the ground. She settled in the saddle and went to the start of the track, shortening her stirrups so she could crouch easier on the horse.

Leonie put one foot in the stirrup and hefted herself up and onto the horse with ease. She took the reigns in one hand before clicking her tongue. Instantly, Lizette trotted forward and stood next to Onyx, small in comparison. Leonie looked up and laughed. "I can imagine you'd love the view from atop him. I don't think here are many horses that could beat his size." She said with a smirk. Madame Raine instead took a seat that a servant set up for her nearby.

Adelaide smiled and gripped the reins. She had already arranged for a servant to signal them to start, so once the signal was given, Onyx thundered forward with the strength of an earthquake. His hooves kicked up dust and debris from the track and Adelaide urged him forward.
(They should finish neck and neck xD)

I actually was planning on that XD))
Surprisingly, Lizette took off at a similar thunderous pace. She may not have started as fast as Onyx had, but now she had gained momentum, and suddenly was gradually passing the big horse in a mocha colored blur, her rider leaning low to avoid air resistance as the mare galloped forward at an incredible speed. Though it was only in a glimpse, Adelaide could see Leonie grinning as the girl rode.

Adelaide grit her teeth, determined to win. She clicked to her horse, and the well-trained animal rushed forward, his limbs stretching out like great tree trunks. He began to pull up beside the smaller mare and Adelaide chuckled to herself, though it wasn't audible. Here came the end of the first stretch, and into the first curve. Adelaide urged her horse to keep up the pace.

Leonie laughed, the sound barely making it over the thundering hooves before she shouted something to her horse. Lizette pressed on, and didn't slow down when the curve came. As it came, Leonie leaned with her horse, and their momentum held. Once the curve was over, she spurred her horse onward with a click of her tongue and a squeeze of her thighs. Lizette obeyed eagerly, just keeping a little bit ahead of the big stallion beside her

Onyx gave a snort, tossing his head and stretching ever closer to them. Finally, the last curve... and they finished neck and neck! Adelaide slowed her horse and trotted him a little further. "Well done, Leonie," she said. "They are a good match, wouldn't you say?"

Leonie was grinned from ear to ear, leaning forward to coo soft words to Lizette and pat her approvingly and soothingly on the neck as the horse trotted forward a bit. Leonie looked over at Adelaide and laughed, clearly in high spirits from the race. "Yes indeed, Adelaide! That was exciting! Onyx is the first horse I've seen keep up with Lizette. Color me impressed." Madame Raine clapped from where she was seated, smiling warmly.
"Good show you two! That was truly exhilarating! Makes me wish I were twenty years younger so I could show you both what for!" She said with a smirk. Leonie raised an eyebrow at her.
"Oh really, Nana?" She asked teasingly.
"Oh yes. When I rode on my great mare Fiora, no one could beat us." She chuckled. Leonie joined in before looking at Adelaide.
"You have a fine horse indeed, Adelaide. And Onyx has a fine rider it seems! You did very well."

Adelaide smiled warmly. "Thank you. Your kind words are appreciated. What did your horse look like?" she asked Madame Raine.

"Ah yes. My Fiora was a lovely auburn color, like flames. She was magnificent to see galloping, and even better to ride. It was like riding a blur. One moment we were here, and then before I even knew it we were there." She said with a chuckle. "She was the toughest horse I've ever seen. I was the only one who could tame her, and it took me weeks of determination." Leonie smiled at her grandmother.
"I remember my father mentioning her. He said she was terrifying and beautiful all in one." She commented. The elder Tekiel smiled and nodded in agreement. Then she looked at Adelaide.
"Tell me dear, where did you get such a fine and big horse? Was he a gift, or from your own house?" She inquired

Adelaide blinked. "My father got him for me on my sixteenth birthday," she responded, patting the horse's neck. "And he has served me faithfully these past two years. He was tough to train, but I managed."

Leonie chuckled, as did Madame Raine. "I can only imagine." Leonie joked before hopping off her horse gracefully, leading it by the reigns back to the stable. "Lizette was actually a wild horse my grandmother found, isn't that right Nana?" She asked over her shoulder, removing the saddle and everything else to wash her horse. The older Tekiel chuckled and nodded.
"Oh yes. One day when I was traveling, I saw a lovely looking horse running by in the distance. I sent some men out to get her, and they returned looking as if they had fought a war. Once I saw Lizette, I knew I had to give her to my little Leonie."

"What a charming story," Adelaide said. "How sweet. Now, I hope you all can stay for dinner." She rode her horse to the stables and dismounted there.

Leonie looked back and smiled. "Of course! We would be honored Adelaide." Madame Raine smiled and nodded as well.
"Indeed we would be! Plus, it means I don't need to move these old bones all the way home just yet." She joked with a chuckle. Leonie laughed and shook her head.
"Admit it, you're just hungry too." She teased, glancing back. The elder Tekiel scoffed and waved her off.
"Oh shush. I'm allowed to be hungry too. In fact, I have more right to be hungry than you do. I've done all my hard work. Now that I'm old, I get to reap the benefits of being lazy." She said with a smirk and a glimmer in her eyes. Leonie only laughed and finished cleaning and brushing her horse

Adelaide used a bucket of water to wash the horse off before drying him and then curry-combing him. She led him back to his stall and smiled. "Well, I think I ought to change first. My clothes smell quite horsey."
