Nazeal nodded, a certain light entering his eyes. He'd left the dominance before, but only briefly and not recently. "I'll make something up about us learning more about House Venture. Duties, family members, influences... I think they'll buy that."

Adelaide grinned. "I could certainly use a lesson in Venture family lore," she replied. "I appreciate you doing this, Nazeal."

Nazeal shrugged. "Honestly, it's only half for you. I need to get away from this place--away from my parents."

"It's settled then," Nazeal said. A lordly air entered his voice, the tone thinly veiled mockery. "I shall speak with my father and arrange the trip."

Adelaide nodded happily, then stood and walked over to the balcony again. "I like watching them dance," she commented.

Adelaide looked at Nazeal with concern in her eyes. "I know." She lightly touched his arm comfortingly. "But... what exactly happened, to make him be disowned?"

Nazeal hesitated and then shook his head slowly. "I shouldn't talk about it," he said. "That's Theon's business, not mine. You might be part of the family now, but... some secrets should remain secrets."

Adelaide exhaled quietly, blinking at him. "I understand." She drew her hand away and crossed her arms as she leaned against the railing.

Nazeal gave her a faint smile before leaning closer and brushing a kiss against her cheek. "I need to go speak with my parents now," he said. "Take care of yourself for a bit?"
